A family practice in Beirut, working in architecture, interiors and development since 1985. Two generations, one office, and a way of working that has not changed much in forty years.
Nazih Dergham opened the practice in 1985 and it has stayed in the family since. Architecture and construction were never separated here: the office drew the building and then went out and built it.
That counts for more in Lebanon than it would elsewhere. Currency moves, power cuts out, a supplier goes quiet for a month. A practice that has worked through all of it prices a job honestly and finishes it anyway.
Today the second generation runs the work, across design, development and execution, with the same people on a project from the first sketch to the last inspection.

Architecture here is not only design. It has to be financially sound, technically resolved and properly built.

We are in Galerie Semaan, Beirut. Most first meetings happen here around a table with plans on it, and most of the ones after that happen on site.
